The ancient alchemists should have visited Ireland in October. They’d have given up trying to turn base metals into gold and watched nature do it all by itself.
Children’s writers get to enjoy the treasure more than many as we travel the length and breadth of Ireland for Children’s Book Festival. Driving the almost-empty motorways on late afternoons is like travelling through a Crunchie Bar with the still, glittering air and ridiculously golden scenery.
What a privilege to enjoy this beautiful country, from Cork and Kerry to Galway, Mayo, Clare and Wicklow over the next month, bringing reading, book fun and My Secret Dragon to libraries and schools. Thank you to the librarians, teachers and Children’s Books Ireland who’ve treated us again this year.
