A big cheer for Silent Books. This travelling exhibition of more than 100 wordless picture books from around the world has arrived in Ballyroan Library, South Dublin, for the first leg of a national tour.

The exhibition is part of a project started in 2012 by iBbY (the International Board on Books for Young People) to entertain, encourage, enlighten, educate and all the other amazing things that books do, not necessarily beginning with e. A library was set up for local and immigrant children on the Italian island of Lampedusa, which has taken in thousands of refugees from Africa and the Middle East.

Now the library has legs, touring the world with books that transcend language.

Silent Books launches in Ballyroan library on April 8th at 1.30. Come along to see the beautiful exhibition and take part in workshops with the amazing writer-illustrators Marie Louise Fiztpatrick and Tatyana Feeney.
